Healthy Mind Coaching, delivers Mental Wellbeing – Positive Psychology Mindset change which helps and encourages our clients to move forward with their lives and overcome life interrupters. Those challenges that come to effect or impact on them and create self-doubt, negative thoughts, false beliefs leading to unhelpful behaviours – CBT coaching is the answer.
This requires intentional change, effort and practice. Here are some steps to cultivate a more positive mindset to overcome the challenges that may come along the way:
Awareness is key
The first step we teach at Healthy Mind Coaching – is to become aware of your negative thoughts and beliefs. Pay close attention to your self-talk and notice when you are engaging in negative thinking patterns. Identify the triggers that cause you difficulties or situations that tend to lead to negativity. Recognise them for what they are. (Most negative thoughts are from our preconceived false narratives and beliefs that we create about ourselves)
Challenge negative thoughts
Once you become aware of negative thoughts or negative thinking patterns, challenge them, and change them. Ask yourself if they are based on facts or assumptions. Evaluate the evidence and consider alternative perspectives. Replace negative thoughts with more balanced, and realistic thoughts as this will have a bearing on your mental, emotional state.
Practice gratitude
Cultivate a mindset of gratitude (being grateful) by focusing on the positive aspects of your life, the things that are going well. Regularly reflect on the things you are grateful for, big or small and celebrate the wins whatever they may be. This can shift your perspective from what’s wrong to what’s right in your life. This encourages us to appreciate what we have got and have achieved.
Surround yourself with positivity
Surround yourself with positive influences, such as good supportive friends, colleagues and family, uplifting books, videos or podcasts, and inspirational quotes. Minimize exposure to negative people, news, those people, or things that drain you including social media that can contribute to a negative mindset and world view.
Set objectives and focus on solutions
Set realistic and achievable goals, ambitions and or aspirations that align with your values and interests. Break them down into smaller, manageable steps. When faced with challenges, focus on finding solutions that motivate instead of dwelling on problems. Adopt a proactive and solution-oriented positive focused mindset that wants to achieve your end goals and objectives.
Practice self-compassion
Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. Acknowledge that everyone has flaws, faults, and makes mistakes, including yourself. Practice self-care and prioritise your wellbeing, mentally, emotionally, and physically. You are responsible for looking after you, don’t expect others to do it for you, look after yourself as you do matter, and you are worth the effort.
Practise mindful living
Being Mindful involves being fully present in the moment without judgement. Practise mindful present living through deep breathing, or other relaxation techniques. This can help you become more aware of your present thoughts and emotions and learn to respond to them in a non-judgmental, authentic, and positive way.
Practise positive affirmations
Use positive affirmations to reinforce positive beliefs about yourself and the world around you. Repeat affirmations such as “I am capable,” “I am worthy,” “I am good enough” and “I will choose positivity” to shift your mindset towards a more proactive and positive outlook.
Remember, our mental wellbeing – positive psychology coaching sessions and programmes cultivate a positive mindset and it’s a journey that requires consistent effort and practice. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to celebrate small wins along the way. With time and practice, you can shift from a negative mindset to a more positive and optimistic mindset and outlook on life. If you believe that you can achieve something, you are far more likely to achieve that which you believe to be true.
